Amiens

Amiens, the capital of Picardy, labelled city of Art and History, is famous for its Gothic cathedral, listed as World Heritage by UNESCO. Light, perfection and harmony in proportion are the main features of Notre-Dame of Amiens.

Many other highlights are to be admired here : museums, the old district of Saint-Leu bathed by the branches of River Somme, traditional marionettes, and the wonderful site of the Hortillonnages… These floating market gardens are located in the very heart of the city and invite visitors to a romantic trip. Today it is a preserved area, close to Saint-Leu and the Cathedral, where fauna and flora live in a peaceful and protected site. For ages, visitors have discovered the Hortillonnages with astonishment, walking along the tow-path, or sailing on board the local black boats with their raised prows.

Amiens is also Jules Verne’s city. The house he lived in is now open to the public and presents a lot of items about his life and work.

Amiens is well worth a two days visit, the Tourist Office will help you to organise your stay and can propose you short breaks packages.

Close to Paris, Belgium and Britain, Amiens can be reached quite easily by the motorways A 16, A1 and A 29.

Amiens, a green and blue city, invites you to discover all its lures.
